Busy Bees

Did you ever wonder why bees build their hive in the shape of hexagons? Of all the possible shapes, a hexagon requires the least work, consumes the least amount of expensive wax, allows for the creation of the most compact structure that can carry the most weight, and allows rapid simultaneous construction. All this has also been proved mathematically. Amazing, isn't it?

That said, when we try to imitate what nature does with astonishing ease, we have to work much harder. Hexagonal tiles require a very long time to lay (more sides, more trouble). However, they are much more aesthetically pleasing and give the house an interesting look. The hexagons break the square patterns that surround us everywhere.

Take a look at this unique 3-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of Rothschild, carefully designed by Aaron Judy Weingrod. A classic, warm, eclectic, out-of-the-box apartment.
